Energy Data & Security
Committee
The Energy Data and Security
Committee summarizes U.S. Energy
Information Administration data,
develops positions for NASEO board
consideration, and educates state and
local leaders on their governments’ role
in preparing for and responding to
energy supply disruptions. The committee
is also responsible for petroleum
issues, such as the U.S. Strategic
Petroleum Reserve. The committee meets
during the Annual Meeting and the Energy
Outlook Conference and before the Winter
Fuels Outlook and the State Heating Oil
and Propane Program Conferences.
Energy Data Working Group
The Energy Data Working Group (a
subset of the committee) will examine
the wide range of energy data issues of
concern to State Energy Offices and that
have been raised with Energy Information
Administration (EIA) in the past and
include providing input to EIA on the
State Energy profiles, budgetary issues,
EIA products, surveys, data collection
forms, website development and all other
matters relevant to state energy data.
It will also develop recommendations for
the NASEO Board of Directors to
consider, and work with EIA to implement
the recommendations. The Working
Group will also serve as a peer-to-peer
assistance forum in which states can
share information and questions about
working with EIA data and information
and other energy related data.
